Carte d'extension Renkforce RF-4011279 interface série RS‑232

The Renkforce Expansion Board RF-4011279 RS‑232 Serial Interface adds a standard RS-232 port to compatible host boards and controllers, enabling direct serial communication with legacy devices and instruments. Designed for integration into industrial, laboratory and development environments, the board provides reliable point-to-point data exchange, device configuration and basic control signals required by many serial peripherals. The product is intended for users who need to connect printers, measurement instruments, PLCs or other equipment that use the RS-232 protocol.

Advantages

This RS-232 interface board supports stable, long-established serial communication with simple wiring and low protocol overhead. It allows straightforward integration with existing systems, reducing the need for complex protocol converters. The design focuses on compatibility and robustness for continuous operation in non-demanding industrial and laboratory settings. Compact form and standard connector types facilitate installation on host boards or inside control cabinets.

Key specifications

• Interface type: RS-232 serial port (asynchronous)
• Physical connector: standard D-sub or equivalent serial connector compatible with RS-232 devices
• Supported signal levels: compliant with RS-232 voltage levels for transmit, receive and control lines
• Typical baud rate range: supports standard serial bit rates commonly used with RS-232 devices
• Mounting: expansion board format for connection to host boards or controllers
• Operational environment: suitable for laboratory and industrial applications with typical ambient conditions

How to use

Fit the expansion board to a compatible host board or controller following the host manufacturer’s instructions. Connect the RS-232 cable between the expansion board’s serial connector and the serial port of the target device. Configure communication parameters on both ends (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits and flow control) so they match, then open the serial port in your terminal software or host application to begin data exchange. Observe correct wiring for control signals if hardware handshaking is used.

Recommendations

Use shielded serial cabling and avoid running cables alongside high-voltage or high-current lines to reduce noise. Verify matching communication parameters before testing, and check the host board documentation for required mounting orientation and supply considerations. For installations in electrically noisy environments, consider adding transient protection on the host side.
